I guess it was inevitable. People are starting to fiddle with the proposed bailout plan of capitalism. The Times is reporting this morning that Democrats, Republicans, and even financial companies are all beginning to lobby for what they want out of the upcoming bailout. Half of it doesn’t sound half bad: Oversight of the Treasury Dept., guarantees that any profits from the new program go directly back to the Treasury, etc.

Problems is, markets, all markets, are tenuous at best right now. If there is even the slightest hint that the Administration and Congress cannot make a deal, or even that a deal may be delayed due to squabbling, it could be devastating to market confidence.

Seems Palin is all bark and no bite, and even then not so much. The Obama and McCain camps have agreed to debates that will include a much more free-wheeling style of questions and answer and sparring than most other Presidential debates. 

Yeah, ‘cept Palin totally bitched out on the same process for the VP debates. The pitbull and her handlers were scared to let her go bare knuckled against Joe Biden and insisted on a more formal, structured debate that will allow much less opportunity for free-wheeling direct exchanges between the running mates.

McCain’s team was up front about the fact that they are total pussies. They were “concerned” that a loose format could leave the Prom Queen at a disadvantage against Joe biden. Gee, do you think? Why, she could just go on about how she lives next door to Russia and shit— I’m sure that’d work.

First she’s afraid of the press, then she’s scared to cooperate in the Troopergate investigation, now she’s scared of Joe Biden. A pitbull in lipstick? More like a  chihuahua in drag… either way, she comes up bitch.

In case anyone noticed, Barack Obama spent yesterday afternoon campaigning in Elko, Nevada. Where the hell is Elko, Nevada and who the fuck cares?

1. I don’t know where Elko is, I went to public schools my whole life.
2. Why the fuck you should care is because it shows how talented the Obama team is.

While the world is melting down, and the pundits are claiming Barck is going to lose, Obama’s gifted team is doing what they always do: sticking with their plan and making it work. If there’s one thing you can absolutely say about Obama’s team is that they’ve been great at “strategery”. They knocked off Hillary Clinton by meticulously going through small caucus states and winning. Village by village, town by town, county by county, they’ve done the math.

The national polls may be tight, but the Obama team focuses on the electoral college map, ‘cuz that’s how you win! They’ve been masters at squeezing every last vote out of every last place.

Which brings us back to Elko, Nevada. Wednesday was Obama’s third trip there. Third! Elko county hasn’t voted for a Democrat for POTUS since 1964, but Obama’s team thinks that with a little attention to Elko, coupled with the great organization they built there during the caucuses, Elko could give Obama the margin he needs to win a state Bush carried by only 20,000 votes in 2004.

Focusing on places like Elko in the general election may just be Obama’s path to the White House.

Obama has released a two-minute ad, directly addressing the voters about the recent financial meltdown.

The Politico is reporting that Democrats are getting pretty fucking freaked out about the election and heavy-duty dudes inside the party are saying shit like, “I’m so depressed. It’s happening again. It’s a nightmare.”

Well, that can’t be good.

Most folks seem to believe that the Paln pick has thrown the Obama team off balance (no shit) and that Team Bambi was simply not set up to run this sort of campaign:

You have got to be kidding me. The guy who cheats on, then divorces, his first wife while she’s recovering from a car accident so he can go off and pick up a new and improved trophy wife 20 years his junior with piles of money, then spend the next 20 years telling rape jokes and calling his wife a cunt has a 12 point lead among white women! WTF?!

Apparently his nakedly cynical ploy of putting a prom queen on the ticket who clearly has no qualifications other than her vagina and is in favor of stripping women around the country of their right of Choice— even in cases of rape and incest- is working.

Side note: I like Joe Biden and everything, but this latest round of polling, plus the news earlier about Bambi’s fund raising problems is seriously beginning to make me think he shoulda picked Hillary.

In what can only be described as a true sign of the Apocalypse, Richie Rich has over taken Barack Obama in the latest poll, found here.

What next? Some TV show where celebrity has-beens dance around on screen captures the attention of the nation and rockets to the top of the ratings? New Kids on the Block get back together and relese an album that not only sells, but is a hit? A totally unqualified former beauty queen becomes a heartbeat away from the presidency when a cynical old man picks her out of nowhere and puts her on a national ticket?

Oh yeah. Never mind.

When Obama comes to New York this week for the Sept. 11 anniversary and a “non-political” event (we’ll see) with John McCain, he’s going to go down to Harlem to do the pop-by on Bubba and the two men are all set to pretend like they’ve buried the hatched.

As you know, Clinton is pissed Obama hasn’t given him the props he feels he deserves as a former president and Bambi is pissed Bubba never took him seriously.

The scuttlebutt is that the two have been negotiating this meeting for weeks and that the meeting will consist of a lunch (with one aide each), and afterwards a possible a walk around the neighborhood.

Here’s what most folks believe was the ice-breaker between the two heavy-duty dudes:

NYT is reporting that MSNBC is kicking Mathews and Olbermann to the curb for acting like little bitches during the Democratic National Convention. Sources say “employees” (Read: Brokaw and Williams) at NBC were embarrassed by the two bickering little girls.

As such, and effective immediately, David Gregory will take the top stop at the fledgling network and Olbermann and Mathews will go back to doing what they do best: running their mouths.

So ends the great liberal network experiment. I have to wonder how much of this was brought on by intellectual hand-wringing at the top, where being called an elite and ideologue by the likes of a whore chaser like Bill O’Reilly or a liar like Sarah Palin can cause great self-reflection and many sleepless nights. “If Bill O’Reilly thinks were ideologues, maybe we are.”

It’s the weekend and I’m tired but here’s a link to more GOP bullshit:

The crux of the story goes like this: Fox “news” made up some bullshit (I know, you’re shocked) about the Obama team throwing away all those American flags that 75,000 people used at Mile High Stadium to witness history being made.

The McCain camp, being total douche bags, picked up the story knowing it was a lie and promoted it anyway (but it’s not McCain’s fault ‘cuz he was a POW).

In turn the right-wing press joined in the circle jerk and the next thing you know Barack Obama apparently said he invented the Internet while smoking crack spliffs with Osama Bin Laden that had been rolled from little bits of the constitution and seasoned with the blood of dead soldiers (or babies, I’m not sure which).

The Truth: The flags were packed up and stored for future use.

You have got see this! The first minute and a half is CLASSIC! All I can say is “That’s what-the-fuck-I’m-talking about.”
